Shifting Claim Policy

Due to the challenging terrains in the country, some damages may occur to household goods (HHG) shipments during transit. Deal Packers and Movers strongly advises clients to consider risk coverage and to pay the coverage fees via cheque when booking to avoid potential issues in unexpected conditions.
The carrier and its agents are not liable for any loss or damage caused by accidents, pilferage, fire, rain, collision, or any other road or river hazards. Therefore, we recommend clients opt for CARRIER RISK by paying additional FOV charges.
Note: Deal Packers and Movers will issue a Goods Consignment Note (GCN) under "CARRIER RISK" as per Section 11 of the Carriage by Road Act, 2007. No individual insurance policy or receipt will be provided by any insurance company.

General Instructions

  • Inventory Sheet: The value listed in the inventory sheet will be considered final for any claim settlement.
  • Value Declaration: Clients should check the declared value of each item in the packing list during documentation.
  • Items Not Listed: No claims will be accepted for items not listed or valued in the packing list.
  • Compensation Payment: Compensation (repair or reimbursement) will be processed only after full freight charges are received and a written complaint is submitted within three days of unloading.
  • Goods Acknowledgment: If a signature is given on the “Goods Receiving” document without damage remarks, it implies that goods were received in good condition.
  • Proof of Delivery: Only items with specific damage remarks on the Proof of Delivery (POD) are eligible for claim consideration.
  • Late Complaints: No late complaints will be considered for damages not initially noted.
  • Declared Value: The value declared for each item should be reasonable and listed on the Packing List at the time of packing.
  • Timely Claims: Claims must be reported within 72 hours of delivery, or within 12 hours for car/bike claims.
  • No Risk Coverage: If risk coverage is not selected, claims will not be considered later.
  • Pre-existing Damages: No claims will be considered for items already marked as damaged in the inventory.
  • Non-material Claims: No compensation will be given for mental distress or inconvenience.
  • Unreported Repairs: Compensation will not be given if goods are repaired without notifying the carrier.
  • Self-unloading: No liability will be assumed for damages if the client arranges unloading or unpacking.
  • Pre-packed Goods: Items packed by the customer and not shown in working condition before packing are ineligible for claims.
  • Prohibited Items: The carrier does not accept perishable goods, jewelry, hazardous materials, firearms, chemicals, filled gas cylinders, or inflammable oils.
  • Battery Preparation: All batteries must be emptied before loading.
  • Building Damage: No compensation will be provided for any damage to elevators, stairwells, or walls during delivery.
  • Delivery Delays: Due to unforeseen circumstances, delays may occur; no compensation will be given for delays in repair or delivery.
  • Plant Pots: Clay flowerpots are not covered for safe delivery.
  • Accuracy of Information: The consignor affirms that the listed goods are correct and permitted for transportation.
  • External Insurance: If the consignor has opted for separate insurance, transit risk coverage from the carrier ends, and claims must be pursued through the external insurer.

Car & Bike Shifting Claim Policy

  • External Damage Only: Only exterior damages to vehicles will be considered; no claims will be accepted for internal or mechanical issues.
  • Owner’s Risk: Car transport is conducted at the owner’s risk; we recommend securing comprehensive insurance.
  • Insurance Claims: Any vehicle damage claims must be filed with the client’s insurance provider, and Deal Packers and Movers will provide a damage certificate if necessary.

Electronics & Furniture Items Shifting Claim Policy

  • Gas Leakages: AC or refrigerator gas leaks are not covered.
  • Authorized Estimates: Claims for electronic items require an estimate from an authorized service center, not exceeding the declared value.
  • Furniture Repair: For damaged furniture, Deal Packers and Movers will arrange repair rather than replacement if feasible.
  • Minor Scratches: No claims are considered for minor furniture scratches.
  • Electronic Item Working Condition: Compensation will be provided for repair or parts replacement if electronic items were shown in working condition at the time of packing.
  • GST: GST will be paid on repair bills upon receipt.
  • Salvage: If full compensation is given, the carrier may retain the damaged item as salvage.

  • Over Chargebacks: By completing a transaction through the Payment Gateway, clients agree to waive the right to initiate a chargeback, except as outlined in Deal Packers and Movers' legal terms.
    Note: A chargeback is a dispute mechanism offered by credit card providers. By waiving this right, clients agree that any payment disputes will be resolved exclusively through Deal Packers and Movers' customer support, ensuring quick, effective solutions.
  • Payment Responsibilities

    Clients are responsible for ensuring sufficient funds are available to cover payments for Deal Packers and Movers services. Payments specified in our quotes must be made in Indian currency via UPI, online, or cheque without any deductions unless agreed otherwise in writing.

    Refund Policy

    Refunds are subject to the terms agreed upon at booking or specified in the service agreement. Refund requests will be reviewed according to these policies and are granted at the discretion of Deal Packers and Movers.
